Oilers build confidence with 5-1 victory over Ducks

Posted by Varius @ 10:04 AM, Saturday Dec 1st, 2007

Edmonton improved its home record (for the past 15 home games) against Anaheim to a stunning 11-1-3 with an offensive outburst Friday night. Ales Hemsky, Kyle Brodziak, Andrew Cogliano, Steve Staios and Shawn Horcoff all found the net for the Oil, while leading Anaheim scorer Ryan Getzlaf had the only reply for the Ducks in a losing cause.

According to Ducks’ captain Chris Pronger, a former Oiler who received loud boos all night long, Anaheim just didn’t compete as hard as it needed to and once again their frustration turned into undisciplined hockey and numerous powerplays for Edmonton.

Jean-Sebastien Giguere was replaced by Jonas Hiller for the second time in three games, but with the Ducks taking just a single shot in the third period, no goalie would have really mattered.Anaheim hopes to regroup for the rematch which takes place Sunday.
