Oilers blank Ducks 4-0; sweep home-and-home series

Posted by Varius @ 9:45 PM, Sunday Dec 2nd, 2007

Dustin Penner opened the game by scoring the type of goal he used to score for Anaheim; not against them. Raffi Torres, Joni Pitkanen and Tom Gilbert also scored for the Oilers. Anaheim gave up a decent amount of power plays early in the game yet again, continuing to play frustrated, undisciplined hockey.

In nets for the Oilers was Mathieu Garon, who stopped 25 shots for his second shutout of the season. Patrick Thoresen made his debut this season for Edmonton.

The only silver lining for the Ducks was perhaps that Todd Bertuzzi did play; Bertuzzi was injured after being hit with a Mathieu Schneider shot last game. Anaheim lost three of four games on their Western Canada swing, being outscored 13-1 in the losses.
