Budaj shines, but Avs lose 2-1 in OT

Posted by Varius @ 2:46 AM, Thursday Dec 20th, 2007

After winning against San Jose while not taking even 20 shots, the Ducks pelted Avs’ goalie Peter Budaj with 40 shots. Making 38 saves, Budja single-handedly got the Avalanche into OT to steal a point. Chris Pronger beat him in regulation, while Mathieu Schneider sealed the deal in overtime for the Ducks second straight win.

Cody McCormick had the lone Colorado goal against Ducks’ backup Jonas Hiller. Colorado only managed 12 shots on goal, 2nd-lowest by a Ducks opponent in history.

Colorado were missing several key players, as Joe Sakic, Ryan Smyth and Jordan Leopold all missed the game with injuries.
